 KFOX DJ GREG STONE

E-mail Me

First of all, I'd like to respond to a couple of rumors circulating for the past ten years while Stone Trek was off the air. KOME-FM removed Stone Trek (a Sunday night progressive rock tradition for eighteen years) in May 1994, along with the rest of the DJ's, as a result of an abrupt music format change. Also, I never left the Bay Area, although I did a syndicated version of Stone Trek for KLOS-FM in Los Angeles from 1991 to 1994.

I subsequently decided to stay in the radio business, choosing work behind the scenes with emphasis on production and engineering. In 2004, KFOX lured me out of "my cave" for the return of Stone Trek on Sunday nights at 10PM to feature the best in classic progressive rock. Due to popular demand, Stone Trek is now every Monday through Friday night, 10PM to midnight during my 7PM to midnight show.

I'm honored to reunite with friends of the past, and consider it a privilege to be with such great people as a part of the KFOX team!

KFOX'S GREG STONE TAKES RADIO TO A NEW (OLD) FRONTIER

EVERY weeknight and Sunday at 10 p.m. KUFX-FM (98.5) becomes the best station on the air anywhere for fans of adventurous rock music.
And that includes non commercial radio, satellite, college...you name it.
That's when deejay Greg Stone is given free reign, and the results are startling good. I have to remember I'm listening to a commercial station owned by Clear Channel, and I have to remind myself to turn it on, because I'm not used to going to the commercial dial to hear new music anymore.
That's right. New....Because Stone's library is so deep  that he is constantly turning me onto rock I didn't know, and I have a library of over 10,000 discs.
It's a wonderful experience. What radio is supposed to be. Stone talks about the music with encyclopedic knowlege. I'm always learning new tidbits. And he plays progressive and bizarre rock, as well as plenty of more easy to take stuff.
This reminds me of why we thought rock was a great art form, not just easy listening music between the commercials. Check it out and let me know what you think...
