DONATE TO THE CAROL FUND
On December 18th, 2006 our good friend Carol Chapman was killed in a house fire.  Carol was animal activist, frequent guest on the KFOX Pet-O-Rama, and good friend to many of the KFOX staff members. Carol saved hundreds of special needs cats and dogs that were due to be euthanized. She nursed them to health, fostered them, and found them good loving homes.

In special memory of Carol, KFOX along with Lisa Lotti from Unconditional Love Rescue have set up the Carol Fund.  Rescue organizations will be able to draw from this fund to to help special needs cats, kittens, puppies, and dogs w/ a max of $1,000 per year for each organization.  Please help these animals by donating to Carol Fund.

Please make out checks to "CAROL FUND" and send to:

Important Info from Furry Friends:
This is a very important message to those who have dogs and cats--and to alert you to the hazard of using a new Flea & Tick Preventative called ProMeris.

This is a new product designed to be a more effective product than other flea/tick treatments that was just released this year. It is available through a vet and not currently on-line. I got ProMeris this week for my 7 dogs (6 Huskies & 1 Golden-Airedale), and the results were debilitating for nearly all of them, including me. Since my incident this week, my vet has pulled it from distribution and alerted the manufacturer, Fort Dodge.
Here are my results: Within less than 2 hours after applying, 4 of my dogs had vomited from 2-4 times, 3 were disoriented and stumbling, 1 was dragging his back leg, 1 was salivating. I had very similar symptoms like an allergic reaction - my lips were swollen, eyes very red, mucous membranes such as eyes, nose, and mouth were stinging. I was very disoriented - dizzy equilibrium and not able to drive. To make this a short story - all 7of my dogs were admitted to the hospital for veterinarian care, and 3 of them remained for care, IV fluids and observation for 24 hours. I was in the emergency room. I'm home now and so are the dogs.

We're all feeling much better. Vet bills were over $2,500 and Fort Dodge is paying for these. Not only can the product cause this reaction, it has a highly noxious odor that permeated the house and is just starting to dissipate after 3 days.

Your dogs/cats might not have the same reaction, but given my experience-I wanted to help you all become well-educated about the product.

UNCONDITIONAL LOVE ANIMAL RESCUE
Name: Maggie
Here is Maggie, survivor extraordinaire! Maggie was found tossed into bushes, approximately 90% dead and covered in maggots. Luckily, the person who found her works for a local fabulous vet clinic and rushed her there, where an amazing veterinarian saved her life. The best part of the story? When Maggie finally was strong enough to stand, the first thing she did bunt the person who was petting her and start to purr. Maggie is getting stronger and stronger every day and is desperate for a home to call her own--she will make someone the luckiest kitty mama/papa in the whole world. Because she KNOWS she has been issued a second chance, and she will relish in life and love for years to come.
Name: Lullaby
Lullaby was found in a storm drain, severely underweight, covered with fleas, but most importantly, absolutely unable to fend for herself. Lullaby is a completely blind kitten. Our wonderful veterinarians say that Lullaby was born this way. It's beyond amazing that she survived for a single minute on the streets. Blind cats can lead an absolutely normal life and adjust to their disability far better than a person would. In fact, Lullaby is doing beautifully in her foster home, where she plays, purrs, and finds the litter box and food bowl just fine, thank you!
Name: Indy
Indy is an awesome kitty!  He is four months old and is the perfect balance between purr and play.  Indy was found on the street by a wonderful person who called Unconditional Love. They got him all cleaned up and now he is basking on kitty trees and loving his kitty playmates. Indy adores other cats and would be a great addition to any family.

Name:Glory
Glory is, simply put, the most affectionate, sweetest cat we have ever encountered. She was lost, pregnant, and starving when she made her way to a person's doorstep in East San Jose. That person could not have cats where he lived, but when Glory crawled into his arms and hugged his neck, he decided he had to help her. He took her to the shelter, thinking she would be ok, then called everyday to see how she was. When he learned she was sick, he called Unconditional Love and begged us to go get her. So we did. And we haven't been sorry one minute. She is amazing.  Beyond description amazing. And at only a year old, she has plenty of time to spoil a person and make him or her realize that no cat parent has ever been so lucky.
Name: Slugger
Slugger came into the shelter as a tiny single scared kitten. When we saw his face, we had to snatch him up. He has the most beautiful tabby and white markings and such an expressive face.  Slugger is a gentle gem of a three and a half month old kitten who adores everyone and every kitty. He will make someone exceptionally happy that they chose him.

Name: Dejavu
Dejavu - Sweetest guy! He is only a year old and is a very special kitty. He is deaf and also suffers from Cerebellar Hypoplasia, a condition which makes his head tremor once in awhile. But he is happy, purry, and uses the litter box perfectly, thank you very much! And, he loves other kitties.  Dejavu would make a wonderful addition to any family. He is so lucky to be alive, and we think he knows this, as he is so appreciative of attention and love.
Name: Mele
Mele - sweet little princess. She is a bit on the shy side initially, but pick her up and snuggle her and the purrfest begins! Mele is seven weeks old and will be spayed and ready to go home next week. She is the tiniest girlie of a litter of four and all of her siblings are already spoken for. She needs a person, too!
Name: Nikki
Nikki Six - Part of our Motley Crew bunch, little Nikki was the only girlie and the runt, so she is spoiled rotten and has tons of personality! She adores playing and snuggling with other kitties and humans. We think she is the perfect kitten. Plus, with her swirly diluted markings and her little pink nose, she is gorgeous, too!!
Name: Kala the Gorilla
Kala, the Gorilla: Ok--she's not really a gorilla, but as a tiny three week old, she sure looked like one!  Now, she is a stunning maine-coonish girl with tons of personality and a love of all toys and dangly objects. Her best friend is Nikki--in fact, they would make a really awesome pair!!
Name: Sasha & Tasha
Sasha and Tasha - two little black girlies (Sasha does have a splash of white on her throat)--so adorable! They are huge purrmonsters who just love to be snuggled. Little black kitties are the hardest to place, so if you can find room in your heart to adopt, please consider a black kitten (or two!). They are amazing.
Name: Alberto
Alberto is a gigantic Oreo cookie of a sweetheart cat--approximately two years old. He got the sniffles at the shelter and was signed for euthanasia, but one of our volunteers saw him upside down and making happy paws in his tiny cage, so she decided to foster him! Alberto is fine with other kitties and, while initially shy, is a complete love bug once he knows he can trust his person. And just look at those eyes! He is such a gorgeous kitty!
FURRY FRIENDS RESCUE
Name: Anton
Anton is 6 and a half month old brown and white tabby kitten. He was rescued from a feral cat colony. He is very friendly, and loves to sleep in bed and cuddle up - he'll even lick your face while you're sleeping! Anton is very playful and gets along great with other cats.
Name: Livia
Livia is a 5 month old female kitty. She is a black short-haired cat, with white paws. Livia was rescued at 3 1/2 weeks old when a dog attacked one of her 4 siblings. She is a great lap cat, very affectionate, and loves to cuddle!

Name: Titan
Titan is a Belgian Tervuren (sort of a long-haired German Shepherd) who is a year and a half old. He was rescued from the Hayward Shelter at the final hour before he was to be put down. He weighs approx. 65-70 pounds. He is a really sweet dog who gets along really great with people and cats. Because of some negative experiences in the past, he doesn't always get along with other dogs, so he is working with a trainer to improve this behavior. He is a really great dog who needs stability and a loving home!
Name: Blake
Blake is an 11 week old black & silver tabby cat. This kitty was rescued when he was only 4 weeks old. He's a sweetheart - has super high energy and a totally friendly personality. Little Blake is great around kids - amazingly friendly!
Name: Antonia
Antonia is a 3 month old, black & white, domestic short hair kitty. She was rescued with her siblings when they were only 3 weeks old. She had been born outside to a stray mom. Antonia is a sweetheart - she's an exceptionally skilled lap kitty who is affectionate and talkative. She's ready to go home with a new loving family!
Name: Bella
Bella is a black, female kittie who is 13 months old. She was found last July when she was 10 weeks old, and was starving at the time. Now she loves to eat seafood! Bella is a little bit shy, but she's a great companion. She gets along well with other kitties!
Name: Tiberius & Claudius
Tiberius (tuxedo) & Claudius (brown) are brothers who are approximately 7-8 weeks old. They were rescued from a shelter at 3 weeks old and bottle-fed. Both kitties are friendly, energetic, and cute as can be. They'll be ready for adoption in approximately 2 weeks.
Name: Bulls Eye
Bulls Eye is a gray and black tabby with bulls eye markings. When Bulls Eye finds your lap, he's not going anywhere for a while. At only 1-week-old, a volunteer from the Tri City Animal Shelter fostered him and his siblings as bottle babies. As a result, he shows a strong bond with humans. He is very cuddly, good-natured, and likes to be held. Bulls Eye is also a special needs kitty - he has a congenital bone disorder, so he limps on his front legs.
Name: Abbey
Abbey is a 7 weeks kitty (sister to Max!). Both kitties were abandoned in the basement of an apartment complex when they were only 4 weeks old. She is black and white, with a pink nose. Abbey is a spontaneous and gets along great with other kitties and dogs.
Name: Max
Max, Abbey's brother, is also 7 weeks old. He has grey hair, with white on his chin and tummy. He also has little white socks on all four of his paws! The opposite of Abbey, Max is pretty mellow. He also gets along really well with dogs, other kitties, and kids too.
Name: Shadow
Taffy is a two year old, black, domestic short-haired kitty. He is a great lap cat and loves to cuddle. He is friendly with both people and other kitties, but does scare easily, so he needs to acclimate to his surroundings. Shadow had been living outside, where he was sometimes ganged up on by other cats, so a nice, loving indoor home would be ideal for him.
Name: Seth
Seth is friendly and good with other kittys, and small friendly dog.

Name: Steve
Steve, his siblings and mother, Rose, were rescued from Los Banos. He is super friendly and good with other kittens, and small cat friendly dog. He's gorgeous and very sweet.

Name: Marty
Rescued from Hayward Shelter. Marty is a very affectionate, easy going and sweet boy. He is very playful and loves running around. He is best buddies with his foster home's other small dog and wants to play with him all of the time. He can also be quiet and calm. He is well behaved, listens to basic commands and loves to cuddle and to be carried. He may chase cats. He would be an ideal companion for another small to med-size dog. Children over 12 would be best. sweetie!
Names: Donald & Duke of Earl
Donald (black kitty) and Duke (orange kitty) are 3 month old brothers who were rescued from the Tri-City Shelter. They were both frightened and shy at first, but have warmed up and are now friendly and love to purr! These brothers are ready for adoption and ideally would love to be adopted together into a loving home.
Name: Butterscotch
Butterscotch lost his eye on a rose thorn when he was a kitten. but that doesn't stop him. He can run and play just like other cats and makes the cutest faces. He's sweet and a bit shy...and would do well in a one kitty household where he can be the center of attention. He was adopted 2005-11-26 (at 6 mos old) by an elderly person who became to ill to care for him and return him to us. He was adopted again, but months later returned him due to personal health reasons. So, he's back with us in a kind foster home who squeezed him into her home and looking for his forever home as a true family member for life.
Name: Trevor
Trevor and his brother, Tristan were rescued from Hayward Shelter. Trevor loves treats and playing with other cats. He is good with other cats, but shy of new people. He doesn't like going to cat showcase.

Name: Calvin
Calvin was rescued from HSSV on 6/10/06. He is very charming, handsome, friendly and affectionate cat who enjoys having conversations and being petted.
Name: Pumpkin
Pumpkin is a sweet boy who wants human companionship and would do well in a family with older children, but no other pets. He was adopted from FFR in 2002 at 3 mos old...but his family moved out of the US so Pumpkin was returned to us. He has a gentle purr that starts as soon as he's picked up. He's looking for someone who will sit with him and pet him. He loves catnip toys and feathers.
Name: Sable
Sable and her brother, Setti (Seth), are both shy, but Sable prefers the company of her brother or would be best adopted alone. She's a sweet girl that enjoys attention which she demands by sitting on the computer mouse. She and her brother both love feather toys and treats.
Name: Tisha
Tisha is born on July 2006. Tisha is a gentle / sweet tortie cat. She loves her friends and licks them all the time! She is a little shy and would do better at a quiet home
Name: Travis
Travis is large and cuddly cat. He's super lovable, friendly and a character. Such a LOVE! He was rescued from Tri-City Animal Shelter, Fremont cat.
Name: Bert
You're going to need three bed pillows from now on: two for you and one for Bert. You'll always wake up to him sleeping above your head on his own pillow. He's a bit of a talker as well, but he reserves that for daytime hours. He also loves to play with humans and other cats.
Name: Blanche DuBois
Blanche (Scarlett's sister) is a grey, striped, 3 month old kitty. Blanche enjoys playing with her sister, Scarlett, being picked-up so that she can exercise her purr motor, and making friends with other cats. She loves to chase laser lights and has often stared at walls waiting for them to appear. She also naturally falls asleep in laps.
