Stuff To Read

By Writer, Director and Producer Ted Kopulos
THIS WEEK'S REVIEWS

Traitor
Don Cheadle, Jeff Daniels, Guy Pierce
• Good, tense, smart thriller
• Don Cheadle contiues to prove he’s one of our most versatile actors
• I even liked Guy Pearce in this one
• Makes excellent statements about religion, politics, patriotism – pro and con

Death Race
Jason Statham, Joan Allen, Ian MacShane
• Well-made big, dumb, fun, loud cash-em-up movie
• Completely different from Death Race 2000, but still enjoyable on a set-your-brain-on-hold level

Hamlet 2
Steve Coogan, Catherine Keener, Amy Pohler
• Insightful and painfully funny look at high-school theater and the kinds of people who are involved in it
• Despite some of the play’s subject matter, the movie was a lot tamer than I thought it would be
• Steve Coogan is hysterically funny and painfully vulnerable at the same time

The House Bunny
Anna Faria, Colin Hanks
• From producer Adam Sandler, a movie that he’s not in
• A poor-man’s attempt at a female Animal House with nerds instead of idiots
• It’s almost as bad as it sounds, but Anna Faria can do comedy, if she gets better material
