Nancy Newcomer: My New Visitor
The timing couldn't be more perfect.
Last week, I went to a screening of a new documentary called Kedi, or as it is known in English~ Nine Lives: Cats in Instanbul, a beautiful film shot in Turkey. For thousands of years, hundreds of thousands of cats have roamed freely throughout the city wandering in and out of people's lives, giving them joy, amusement and an opportunity for reflection. It's a fascinating film, definitely worth seeing especially if you're a fan of the feline, if not, go for the gorgeous cinematography showing the heart and soul of the city of Instanbul.
Coincidentally the day after I saw the film, a cute little black cat jumped up on the dutch door of my kitchen to pay me a visit. Ever since then, he's been showing up for daily greetings, usually hanging out for about 20 minutes. After seeing the movie, I'm taking it as a good omen that a black cat is crossing my path. I find him charming...by the way, his name is "Howard".
Kedi / Nine Lives: Cats in Instanbul is playing all over the bay area including: Camera 3 in San Jose, Aquarius in Palo Alto, and The Del Mar in Santa Cruz.
