Happy New Year everyone!
2012 went by fast, I was busy with some things that took longer than I thought and the year slipped by. Part of my plans for 2013 are to make up for some things I missed. There's only 52 weeks in the year, oops now just 51 so I better get going.
In no particular order here are my 2013 resolutions.
Fish more I love fishing. I have made my own lures and fishing rods. But I didn't get to go much last year.
I like it all, salmon off the California coast, dorado in Baja, trout caught on the fly, largemouth bass at places like Clear Lake on and on. For Christmas I was given this book
Flyfisher's Guide to Northern California
I am making plans to visit the Lower Sacramento and the Fall River. I've fished both but not in a long time. I need to head north and work on my fly fishing "twitch."
Maybe a Baja dorado trip and definitly some Clear Lake bass trips in the mix for 2013 as well!
Manage money I can thank my dad for this. He always taught me to save and spend wisely. I like the simple approach of
Couch Potato Portfolio investing. Own 2 things, forget about it. How does it do? Not bad.

More Shooting Sports I really like shotgun sports like Trap and Skeet and am pretty bad at both. I'd love to shoot more at places like the The
Livermore-Pleasanton Rod & Gun Club. They have a great facility and after watching the Olympic shooters last year I'm inspired to improve my game.
That would lead to more birds bagged on hunting trips to places like
Quail Point hunting club.
Play more Bocce Ball It's not as exciting as fishing in Baja or riding motorcycles in the desert but it's fun, easy, and a great way to spend time with friends. I got my own balls (behave...) last year so I am ready!
Bicycle more I'd like to enter a few charity rides in 2013. I love riding in the Napa Valley. It's mostly flat and always beautiful. I will sign up for the
Napa Tour de Cure ride and maybe more events like that.
Learn to play golf Other than pee wee (love the place in Castro Valley!) I've never done it. I might give it a try this year.
Take an online class In what? Not sure. There's a lot of cool stuff that is online now. I might check it out and sign up.
Volunteer I want to do something different this year. Maybe some
volunteering for LibriVox and read for their audio books.
Read more I got a Kindle Fire last year. I love it and have been reading more than ever. I'd like to continue that in 2013.
Lose weight Yea there's always this. I am
following this guy Charles Martin as he tries out 13 weeks of a plan "I’ll be keeping a very low carb, more or less “paleo” diet, and doing “high intensity interval training” and “high intensity strength training” two sessions a week." He's also on
Facebook.
Leave some room for God All the above is pretty meaningless without this last resolution that is the most important to me in 2013.
The Pope from Midnight Mass 2012 "The faster we can move, the more efficient our time-saving appliances become, the less time we have. And God? The question of God never seems urgent. Our time is already completely full. But matters go deeper still. Does God actually have a place in our thinking?"
Happy New Year everyone!
